Ensuring life is a healthy journey for women in our community.

Welcome to the Women's Council of Forsyth Medical Center Foundation.  At nearly 200 members strong, the Women's Council focuses on efforts to improve the health of women of all ages and circumstances. We do that by providing educational opportunities for members and their guests each year as well as sponsoring our annual signature fundraising event – The Garden Party.

Since the first Council meeting in 2008, The Women's Council has made nearly $375,000 in grants, impacting countless women across our community.  In 2014, members voted to use funds for the following projects:

  • Renovation of the Women's Dressing Rooms in the Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center
  • Scholarships for girls to participate in Girls on the Run, inspiring them to be confident, healthy, and joyful
  • Scholarships to provide heart risk assessments to underserved women
  • Funding for a Women's Nurse Navigator

In addition, we have made grants for:

  • The creation of a GYN Nurse Navigator program
  • The Breast Clinic for mammograms for women who are un- or under-insured
  • Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center's Domestic & Sexual Assault program
  • Hospital to Home to help frail senior women recover at home
  • The Cancer Center's Feel Good Friday program
  • Maya Angelou Center for Women's Health & Wellness for heart risk assessments and wellness program scholarships
  • Behavioral Health peer support specialist program for women
